About
the Jack Russell Terriers
Reverend John Russell developed
the Jack Russell Terriers in the south of England in the 1800’s.
He used the Jack Russell Terriers to trail hounds and bolted foxes from
their dens so that the hunt could ride on. The Jack Russell
Terriers are a very special breed; they have been kept sound, functional
and relatively unchanged because of responsible people who have cared about
the Jack Russell Terriers' heritage.
The Jack Russell Terriers
are happy, bold, energetic dogs that are extremely loyal, intelligent and
assertive. Their greatest attribute is their working ability,
closely followed by their excellent qualities as a companion.
The Jack Russell Terriers can be equally at home chasing a toy in your
living room or killing a rat in your barn. While adaptable
to a variety of environments, the Jack Russell Terriers are first and foremost
bred to be hunting dogs. The courage of the Jack Russell Terriers
are never in doubt, they have been known to take on an adversary many times
their size.
The Jack Russell Terriers
can make terrific family pets, and are usually friendly with small children,
providing the child knows how to handle Jack Russell Terriers.
The American Kennel Club
changed the name of the Jack Russell Terriers to the Parson Russell Terriers
effective April 1, 2003.
The limited edition “Treed”
shows many traits of the Jack Russell Terriers breed and is a wonderful
addition to any Jack Russell Terriers collection.
